GIRL AS WAVE HOUDINI

Throughout 2017, New York femme-fatale Marci Elizabeth, aka Girl As Wave, has been sharing a few golden, indie-rock tracks that have drawn in a close community of listeners and set her up for more to come in the new year. Here at TMR, we’ve covered dream-pop debut ‘Polaroid’ and sophomore single ‘Speed Of Light’, which could have easily feature as the closing credits song of 1995 cult film classic Empire Records. Now, the East Coast newcomer has released another smokey-eyed song called ‘Houdini’. It’s a hazy affair of paced percussion, reverb-heavy vocals, dramatic synth key chords and cowboy strings - yet another side to this sophisticated songwriter, who has the uncanny ability to say so much with those dulcet tones and minimalist instrumentation. Look out for more Girl As Wave in 2018. - HT
